Generators/Backup Power

Solar Generators or Backup Power is the most advanced and affordable of any backup power system available. With Solar Backup, the fuel source is completely free and unlimited, creating an indefinite power supply for any demand required. When the system is not providing emergency power, it also feeds Solar Electricity back into the property and utility grid, and can eventually pay for itself in energy savings.

Solar Generators consist of one or more Solar Electric Arrays, Battery Banks, Inverter/Chargers, and other solar charging and inversion equipment. Power is supplied by the inverter/charger to meet electrical demand in one or more circuits at the property from the utility when available, and switching automatically to Battery Banks during a utility outage. Battery Banks are designed to meet 2-5 days of backup load, and are often recharged in a single sunny day by the Solar Array.

Solar Alternatives Backup Power

Systems are designed individually by Solar Alternatives Engineers to meet owner and project requirements, including:

  • Average load: What is the average kiloWatt-hour (kWh) use per day under backup conditions?
  • Peak load: What is the highest demand (in kW) that will be drawn from the system?
  • Pure backup duration: How long must the system operate on battery alone, without sunlight or auxiliary generator?
  • Monitoring functionality: Are network and wireless monitoring features important?
  • Auxiliary generator capability: Is a gasoline or NG generator available to boost charge level when necessary?
  • Solar Energy production: How much non-emergency solar production is required for the project?
  • Available roof and ground space for one or more Solar Arrays?
  • Indoor/garage or outdoor equipment mounting location?

Solar Backup systems easily scale from basic critical-circuit models with minimal equipment and battery sizing, to full-property backup operations with high-powered inverters and Solar Arrays. With current State and Federal Tax Credits, it’s an excellent time to secure your energy source and invest in clean energy production.
